THE DETAILS -Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and histories
-Administer treatment plans
-Prescribe psychotropic medications and short-term therapies to treat mental health conditions
-Provide brief psychotherapeutic interventions
-Assess patients presenting in crisis, evaluate risk and develop treatment plans
-Complete required documentation of clinical services provided and maintain up to date clinical records utilizing electronic medical records
-Provide consultation with primary care providers as needed

THE QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
· Must be able to practice independently (unsupervised by physician) or must have own collaborating psychiatrist
· At least 3 years of recent medication-management experience is preferred
· At least 3 years of counseling experience is preferred
· Experience working with clients of all ages is preferred
· Active and unrestricted APN license in the State of Virginia is required
· Current, valid and unrestricted drug enforcement administration (DEA) number is required
· Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification is required
-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
· Proficiency in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment is required
