THE OPPORTUNITY: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
THE LOCATION: Midlothian, VA
Ready for a change?  We have an excellent opportunity available for a psychiatric nurse practitioner to join our team in Midlothian, Virginia. (West of Richmond)  Responsibilities will include medication management, psychiatric evaluation, consultation, and limited counseling services.  You will be responsible for the psychological and pharmacological needs of patients.  


-Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and histories

-Administer treatment plans

-Prescribe psychotropic medications and short-term therapies to treat mental health conditions

-Provide brief psychotherapeutic interventions

-Assess patients presenting in crisis, evaluate risk and develop treatment plans

-Complete required documentation of clinical services provided and maintain up to date clinical records utilizing electronic medical records

-Provide consultation with primary care providers as needed

· Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program

· Must be able to practice independently (unsupervised by physician) or must have own collaborating psychiatrist

· At least 3 years of recent medication-management experience is preferred

· At least 3 years of counseling experience is preferred

· Experience working with clients of all ages is preferred

· Active and unrestricted APN license in the State of Virginia is required

· Current, valid and unrestricted drug enforcement administration (DEA) number is required

· Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification is required

-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

· Proficiency in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment is required
